Flames Ohgod - Perfect Balance

Trauma hinders growth in many, but the grind of Flames Ohgod never slows. Using his pain of loss as a motivator, Flames Ohgod puts his all into his new album “Perfect Balance”.

Flames Ohgod has been making street anthems and trap-pop hits non-stop with “Perfect Balance” being the eighth album released within the past two years. Quantity never dampens the quality of his music however as Flames Ohgod consistently excels at branding himself authentically.

Intro songs in hip-hop are held to a high standards needing to set the tone of the album, while flexing the rapper’s lyricism and flow to their limit. Flames Ohgod holds true to this sentiment with  “Therapeutic Vent”. Expressing his grief for lost family members who passed away, Flames Ohgod stays true to himself as an artist.

The second song on “Perfect Balance”, titled “Hotel Room”, was the first official single released prior to the album dropping. “Hotel Room” mirrors similar trap-pop elements of his award winning 2021 album “Last Night at the Trump Hotel.”

Flames Ohgod continues to flex on doubters and haters with the street anthem “Ghetto Stories”. Following this plays “Hard to Let Go” a short, somber confessional song with a soulful sample in the beat. This leads into “Kewchi Crown”, which was the second single dropped prior to “Perfect Balance” release. “Kewchi Crown” is a club banger ready for the aux at any party.

Julie Riggs beautiful singing is featured on “Testimony” as Flames Ohgod returns in vein to “Hard to Let Go”. The difference being “Testimony” is directed more at his haters than a past lover. Continuing on with the album, Flames Ohgod floats over the catchy beat of the one minute track “Roadrunner”.

Dillon Loucks brings a 2000’s pop-punk energy with the powerful hook of “Broken Glass”. Flames Ohgod vents about seeing his worth beyond a past lover’s capabilities on his verse of “Broken Glass”.  Similar in themes of grief and flexing on doubters, Flames Ohgod continues with “Blocc Legend”.

“Lil Mop” combines a soulful rap beat with the pop-trap style Flames Ohgod has perfected with his recent releases. With a casual bravado and an upbeat flow, Flames Ohgod playfully boasts his ability to get with any girl he desires.

After this Flames Ohgod shows his vulnerable side singing about how his ex mistreated him on “Heart in a Box”. Twelve songs into the album he continues strong with “Yeah Yeah”. If you take “The Box” by Roddy Rich and asked Flames Ohgod to recreate his version in a mellow style you would end up with “Yeah Yeah”. A personal favorite off the entire album of “Perfect Balance”, “Yeah Yeah” deserves to be heard.

The album continues with the club song “Cake”, similar in vibe to his single “Kewchi Crown”. A true hip-hop fan Flames Ohgod then brings an emotional posse cut to his album with “My Tears” featuring Chubb$, Tremendousx and Master Puff.

Two songs away from the album ending, Flames Ohgod does a victory lap with “Freak” featuring the soulful singing of Tavio. Ending strong with “Chris Wells”, Flames Ohgod shows his dedication to his music through accepting his life’s trauma as fuel to his fire.
