Illvibe - Ghosts

Illvibe delivers a double song release, akin to a vinyl’s A-side and B-side, titled “Ghosts”. The two track project follows a string of singles in 2022 and his 2021 album “Hymns For The Underdog”.

Side-A is the title track “Ghost”.  The song begins with an almost tropical, gentle back beat with Illvibe’s soft singing enticing the listener. Although multiple interpretations can be perceived from the vulnerable song, the first verse sheds light on one such meaning.

Verse one describes people who search for the same love they hear about in movies and poetry. An additional layer could be the hunger for celebrity many creatives feel during their journey. Social media and celebrity has people comparing other’s highlights with the more realistic highs and lows of their own lives.

Love differentiates itself between both individuals and couples. Every love story described in art is unique to the people perceiving it. Many people will say when you stop searching for love and fulfillment that’s when it will find you. True love is a day to day journey and experience not a tangible ideal of someone.

Fame similarly can never be attained with a finish line, instead fame is more closer to a treadmill. No matter the speed of your pace, the want for more will never be satiable. Illvibe removed himself from the rat race learning to create for himself again, hence him “not believing in ghosts”.

The second verse shows Illvibe’s using poetic lyrics revealing him holding strong in his new thinking. Illvibe redefined his purpose from the want of more to enjoying the experience of now. By letting go of his need for more, Illvibe’s future has flourished even farther.

Side-B is the more upbeat and light hearted song “Stranger Things”. Thematically similar to “Ghosts”, “Stranger Things” shows a more hopeful side of Illvibe. Throughout the song he sings on believing in the impossible.

“Amazing things have happened, to people just like us. I seen it on TV, we could fall in love.”

Illvibe is an true creative soul who originally wrote “Ghosts” in 2019 only to then save the song until he felt ready. He believed in the song, and rightly so as it’s an experience. Outside of making music, Illvibe co-runs a lyric video graphic company that works will both independent artists and major record labels.
