Soshake - that’s just who you are

Soshake’s song “that’s just who you are” is an eerie indie-pop song with hyper pop elements blended in. The biggest strength is how well his angsty lyrics mirror with his quite melodies in his vocal delivery.

Reminiscent of artist such as Brakence and Loser with the song structure and effect use. Soshake carves his own lane through his authentic emotional delivery in his voice.

“that’s just who you are” is Soshake’s second release of 2022 following “SAY THINGS” with frequent collaborator producer/artist Kyoto Black.

The instrumental of Soshake’s newest song has a catchy drum pattern met with a lullaby nightmare melody in the upper part of the beat at times. However the drum line stays highlighted vibrant and never loses momentum.

During the chorus Soshake describes the tragedy we learn of the people we surround ourselves with. You can want to grow but not everyone is ready to grow as a person. The worst of the tragedy is when you have to let someone go who’s not ready grow to ensure they don’t prevent your own growth.

Soshake expresses this with lines in the hook such as: “Argue wasted, that’s just who you are. You refuse to face it”

The first verse has a lyric about a vampire making sad songs. On a surface level being a vampire because of late nights making music. At the same time though the vampire can be interpreted as the other person, who refuses to change. This person being an energy vampire preventing ones own growth and success with their negativity.

When Soshake comes back in the second verse he’s leaving the person who was draining him. When he’s finally healing then the other person is “misunderstood”. By this point Soshake is numb to this and continues to stay out of the cycle. Accepting the person to always be who they are and letting them go.
