Cor Bloom - BURNER
Cor Bloom releases his debut project, “BURNER”, telling the ups and down of his life within 14 minutes. As Cor Bloom’s first release of 2023, “BURNER” is a six song EP labeled as a collection of demos on Spotify. The EP also had two singles for promotion prior to release: “ADORE YOU” and “NONE2LOSE”.
The first song, “ISSEY” starts with a whirlwind of hype in the instrumental. Sonically the song feels similar to rising underground melodic hip-hop artists such as: Koi and Loser. “ISSEY” has good energy throughout while delivering lyrics that weave between flexing and feeling a longing for love.
Leaning further into the hopeless romantic themes, comes the powerful second song “FADED”. As soon as Cor Bloom’s vocals drop he delivers an emotional performance with an insanely catchy melody. Lyrics continue the theme with Cor Bloom showing his tendencies of self sabotage such as losing sleep over heartache and over partying to cope.
As the first single released prior to the EP, “NONE2LOSE” is also the third song on the track list. At almost 3,000 streams on Spotify alone, “NONE2LOSE” is Cor Bloom’s biggest song (so far). Thematically the song is a turning point for Cor Bloom’s pain. When people are at their lowest, surpassed their limits, they find their true values. Cor Bloom traps the moment of finding your worth in the catchy track “NONE2LOSE”.

“I think I got none to lose. I think that I’m done with you”
Going in a more light hearted approach vocally comes the gentle guitar beat song titled “OVERSEAS”. A daydream of vacation filled life that still feels empty without Cor Bloom’s love that broke his heart. Delivered in a way that focuses more on the warmth of the better days and less on the emptiness of loss. Finally settling into a warm, bittersweet pop sound.
Doubling down on the lovesick pop vibes curated in “OVERSEAS” comes “ADORE YOU”. As the fifth track off the EP, “ADORE YOU” was also the second single from “BURNER” and Cor Bloom’s last release of 2022. The song is the brightest feeling song on the project. Describing a love that has left an eternal longing feeling, and the efforts and lengths Cor Bloom is willing to go to find that feeling again.
“ADORE YOU” also has multiple memorable lyrics such this poetic stanza: “Falling for the ghost of you. Stuck in the past but it’s not what I’m devoted to. Give me a chance and I’ll love you like he’s supposed to do. I’ll give you all of me for a dose of you.”
The finale of Cor Bloom’s debut EP is “LIE” which resurfaces the previous themes of heartbreak and self indulgent behaviors to numb the pain. Using glitch effects to elevate the feeling of closure leaving shattered pieces, “LIE” is a brief but fitting end to an enjoyable debut project.
Cor Bloom just started making music a little over a year ago and mixes all his own vocals. The “BURNER” EP is his fourth release on major streaming platforms. One of the most intriguing elements of Cor Bloom’s blossoming music career is not his self engineering, his catchy melodies or his creative lyrics but rather his potential for further growth.
