Mannyd - MisPlaced Dreams

Singer-song writer Mannyd releases a powerful EP titled “MisPlaced Dreams”. This four song EP is Mannyd’s third release of 2023, following his emotional charged three song EP “Angels Gained” and catchy pop single “L.O.V.E.”.

All eight songs from the three releases have been mixed and mastered by Mannyd’s long time engineer MixHouseProductions (who produces original music and remixes under Ceige). From frequent studio sessions and new equipment investments, MixHouseProductions is able to lift and polish Mannyd’s already natural gifted vocal performances.

Introducing the EP comes the atmospheric, love story titled “sober up”. Mannyd using his vocal range holding notes in creative pockets throughout the faster tempo instrumental of the song. During the beginning of the song Mannyd confesses his commitment to change and grow for relationship through his lyrics:

“hates when I get too drunk. Tells me all the time that I’m toxic. So I went and sobered up”.

Further in the song of “sober up” Mannyd describes his love for his partner as his new addiction. The end of the song has some soft vocal glitches and effects mirroring someone falling back into habits. Only this time Mannyd’s drug of choice is his love for his partner.

The second song for the EP is the 2000’s pop rock influenced track titled “one day”. Lyrically the song describes a cycle repeating and taking life “all in one day”. Guitar and drums make up the instrumental as Mannyd delivers another versatile performance.

Continuing with the same soundscape and themes as the previous two songs, comes the third track titled “IK IK”. Mannyd confesses more of his vulnerabilities and mistakes in his romances by lyrics such as:

“I know, I’ve been distant. I know, that you missed this. I know, that we’re finished.”

Unlike “one day” where he sings about his commitment, Mannyd describes a bittersweet awareness of a relationship ending through his lyrics in “IK IK”.

Providing closure to the listener comes the finale titled “run away”. Using a slower tempo, Mannyd delivers a somber and gripping song. Putting a magnify glass on his own limitations further through lyrics similar to “IK IK”, Mannyd’s “run away” describes being overwhelmed by his own demons to the point of pushing loved one’s away. Describing a tragic acceptance, Mannyd compares his self isolation to a fire burning out into ash.
