SKIBA - LARGE SUMS

A soft backbeat starts the song before SKIBA’s voice melts from the background of his newest release. “LARGE SUMS” is a confessional rap ballad delivered over a sample centered instrumental.

The first single from SKIBA of 2022, this story telling song is the follow up track to 2021’s “PAID DUES”. Similar in vein but delivered with different emotional performances. The difference? “PAID DUES” is a nonstop drive for more, while “LARGE SUMS” has a calm confidence.

SKIBA described the creation process of “LARGE SUMS” to me as one of self reflection. Written during a low point of SKIBA’s life, the song was designed with the idea of converting negativity into the drive forward. Self mixed, “LARGE SUMS” lyrics describe a desire for more with the energy of summer day drive.
