Soshake - Sick Of You

Soshake returns from a successful previous year of music with the long teased “Sick Of You”. Originally previewed through tik tok all the way back July of 2022, “Sick Of You” is his first song of 2023. A melodic, emotional performance shows Soshake putting his best foot forward in the New Year, for new and old fans alike.

The instrumental consists of a soft guitar melody looped with a gentle drum back beat to match. Lyrically reflective of a numb acceptance, giving in to the darkness. Self isolation at its worst feeling out of sync with other people. The chorus encapsulates the feeling of exhaustion in a catchy bite sized melody.

During the first verse lyrics continue the story of these self isolating ways. At the same time describing an addiction to a person who further causes avoidant tendencies such as ignoring phone calls and friends. When simple conversations are difficult, the weight on the mind can feel heavier than it can appear. Everyone has moments of feeling like Soshake when he said: “I just wanna stay in bed sometimes” and “better off by myself this time”.

Throughout the song there are element of hip-hop, anti-pop and hyper-pop influences with effects used as exclamation points. Around 1:20 there’s a soft break with the hi hats cutting away. During this bridge, Soshake’s vocal performance felt reminiscent of the hyper-pop star Brakence.

“I'm too tired to be upset. You're too complicated for me.”

Currently at 11,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Soshake consistently feeds his fanbase with better music each release. “Sick Of You” is no different, delivered as a sad melodic track relatable to anyone who gives more than they get back.
