Thrizzy, JXVE & HunnaV - I Got Us

Ohio artist Thrizzy ended 2022 strongly, recruiting his “Take You Back” collaborator JXVE and rising artist HunnaV for a pop hit titled “I Got Us”.

The instrumental blends with Thrizzy’s billboard worthy melodies with an essence reminiscent of Timbaland and Justin Timberlake in their prime. Thrizzy raps and sings an underdog tale. The story of when an immovable objects finally moves. No matter what’s thrown in Thizzy’s direction he never falters. Instead of letting other’s incompetence grow doubt to fester, he stays self motivated. Regardless of losing friends or just partying to cope with life’s hardships, Thrizzy’s eyes stay focused forward.

Bittersweet are the title lyrics “I Got Us”. In the chorus Thrizzy confesses “It’s just me and me”, meaning the ‘us’ is really Thrizzy by himself. Singing words of comfort to reassure himself, Thrizzy establishes the tone of the song. Following the catchy hook comes Thrizzy’s verse. Stylistically starting with soft singing before transitioning to a more melodic rap style.

During the first verse Thrizzy croons a dream life of luxury with unbreakable confidence.  Jxve starts the second verse with the lyric: “I definitely can’t spell, I always see the ‘I’ in team”; staying in theme of the song by twisting a common saying. JXVE continues on rapping with a multi layered rhyme scheme until the end of his verse where he starts singing. Ending his verse with one of the many styles JXVE’s become known for: ethereal sad lyrics delivered with an angelic auto-tuned falsetto. Those last few seconds of JXVE’s verse alone make the song worth multiple replays.

HunnaV closes off the four minute plus song with the final verse. Keeping up with the song’s tone, HunnaV shows his drive throughout his lyrics. At one point HunnaV raps “Im counting rubber bands never sheep”. In other words HunnaV has no time to sleep because he’s to motivated for making more money. Rubber bands being slang for stacks of cash and counting sheep being advice to help you fall asleep.

All three artists are curating a dedicated fanbase through quality music and consistent releases. Currently Thrizzy sits at over 9000 monthly listens on Spotify, while Jxve sits at around 55,000 and HunnaV sits at around 92,000. As none of the three have released a solo song during 2023 yet, these listener numbers are bound to grow as they all expand their creative reach. Whether you make art yourself or are just swimming through life’s mud trying to stay focused forward, “I Got Us” is a motivating pop hit ready for constant replays.
